Smartphones, laptops, components, industrial electronics — China produces 70% of the world's electronics. How to distinguish the original from the copy and find a reliable supplier?
China is a global electronics factory. It produces iPhones, Samsung, components for Tesla and industrial equipment for the whole world. But along with the originals, the market is flooded with fakes. How to work safely?
Types of Chinese electronics
The market is divided into three segments: OEM products (produced in the same factories as the branded ones, but without a label — excellent quality at a low price), branded Chinese electronics (Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo — full-fledged manufacturers with a guarantee) and fakes for Western brands (the main risk).
Verify Vendor
On the 1688.com platform, focus on: the seller's rating (at least 4.8/5), the number of transactions (from 100+), the availability of photo production, the willingness to provide samples. Look for Gold Supplier and Trade Assurance status on Alibaba.com.
Authentication
For expensive goods, order an inspection at the supplier's warehouse — a third party checks the compliance of the goods with the declared characteristics. The cost of inspection is $150–300, the savings in detecting problems are many times higher.
Documentation & Certificates
Electronics when imported into the EAEU requires mandatory certification: declaration of conformity TR EAEU 037/2016 (restriction of hazardous substances), TR EAEU 004/2011 (low-voltage equipment) for the relevant categories of goods.
Cargo insurance
Electronics is one of the most insured cargoes. With the cost of a batch of $5,000 or more, insurance is mandatory. The typical rate is 0.3–0.5% of the value of the cargo.
Eastern Sun Trading organizes the purchase of electronics from China with quality control, full documentary support and cargo insurance. Leave a request.
